To enable quarry owners to comply with the Quarries (Explosives) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2006 Approved Code of Practice, Ulster Industrial Explosives provide a service whereby shotfiring equipment can be examined and tested every six months. Records of tests are maintained and reminders issued when testing is due again.
If exploders are found to be in good working order and 'fire' up to the manufacturer's specified rating, a test certificate is issued. If, after battery renewal, ohmmeters are found to be in good working order and their accuracy over their operating range is within the manufacturer's specification, a test certificate is issued. .
The collection and return of equipment is arranged and substitute equipment can be provided on loan whilst testing is taking place.
Portable, battery powered seismographs, designed to monitor blasts and piling, are available for hire from Ulster Industrial Explosives on a daily / weekly basis or for sale. Each instrument can be operated in a self triggering fully automatic mode, or a continuous mode with an internal printer providing a fully annotated auto-ranging printout.
A user manual and battery charger are provided and operating instructions are given as required.
Exploders, designed to initiate dc bridge wire electric detonators, are available for hire from Ulster Industrial Explosives on a daily / weekly basis or for sale.
Ohmmeters, designed to measure the electrical resistance of dc bridge wire detonators and associated circuitry, are also available (approved for use in N. Ireland in the vicinity of shot holes).
